Yes i tryed to manually install the graphics driver but all it did was make the screen blink on and off when it restarted. I got a black screen and all it did was blink and after a few minutes it restarted the computer and blink again. The wireless card is a Intel PRO/Wireless 3945abg network card. I got to get the drivers for theTexas Instruments pci gemcore based smartcard controller. I ran Windows 8 Upgrade Advisor and it told me it support everything on the laptop.
Thats the hardware in it. Thats to upgrade and i don't have a upgrade disc. I got a full install disk of windows 8 pro n. I don't think i can upgrade with this disk. I know when i boot from the dvd it will ask me if i want to upgrade or install. So i thnk you for the help i getting.
Hope this helps. Well today i installed windows 8 on my compaq nx9420. Everything install but 3 things and they are (mass storage controller, pci simple communications controller and a unknown device.

Video sound and stuff work great. I installed the intel chipset drivers for it and those are the only 3 thing i can't find drivers for.
I look at hp web site for this laptop and try difference drivers with no luck. The laptop seen to be work good without those drivers. Well i keep looking.
